Low cost electricity storage, enabling a 100% carbon-free electricity supply.

The presentation gives an introduction to the unique properties of the Elestor technology, primarily developed for large scale stationary electricity storage applications.
In addition, as the battery generates hydrogen during the charging process, the concept introduces several new and unique possibilities for integration with hydrogen infrastructures and electrolysers. As such, the Elestor technology bridges the two worlds of energy storage: with batteries and in the form of hydrogen.

About Guido Dalessi
Graduated in Physics (1986), Guido Dalessi started his career in R&D of laser based measuring equipment. In 1996, he joined a high-tech startup, developing equipment for optical disc production. As Director Sales & Marketing, Guido initiated the international business activities, established a global sales & service network, and headed local branch offices in Singapore and Los Angeles.
In 2004, the company was acquired by the public listed Singulus Technologies AG, after which Guido was promoted to Executive Vice President. Two years later the company acquired its main competitor and Guido was appointed CEO, where he managed the merge of both enterprises into Singulus Mastering BV. In the 8 years that Guido held this position, the company became global market- and technology-leader in its field.
Guido Dalessi joined Elestor in May 2015, and is also one of the early investors.

About Elestor BV
Elestor has introduced an innovative electricity storage technology for large scale stationary applications, based on the flow battery principle. With this, the electricity storage costs (aka Levelized Cost of Storage) are reduced to an absolute minimum.
Low cost, abundant active materials (hydrogen & bromine) are used, combined with a patented system design and easy to manufacture and compact cells. This triple cost reduction strategy enables introduction of viable business cases, which are essential to stimulate the adoption of electricity storage and thus to accelerate the energy transition. The Elestor technology has the potential to replace fossil power plants at GWh scale (bi-directional power plants) and has all the properties to become the equivalent in large-scale long duration electricity storage of what Lithium ion is today for mobility.
The essential difference of the Elestor technology with conventional batteries is that power (MW) and energy (MWh) are uncoupled: The Elestor technology is 100% modular and virtually any desired power-energy combination can be designed, enabling very cost-effective bridging of long periods during which hardly renewable electricity is generated.

Another unique feature is that the Elestor technology can be integrated in hydrogen infrastructures and electrolysers, resulting in largely reduced production costs for green hydrogen. This has been concluded and quantified from an in-depth feasibility study, carried out in cooperation with a large European energy corporate.

Elestor is named as one of the 10 most innovative companies in The Netherlands, in a competition entered by 600 companies. The Dutch Innovation Award is an initiative of the Amsterdam Centre for Business Innovation (University of Amsterdam).
